What is massage therapy?
Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissue and joints of the body using various techniques such as myofascial release, stretching, hydrotherapy and effleurage/petrissage. Massage therapy is used to help alleviate discomfort and pain associated with stress, muscular injuries and many chronic pain syndromes.
Why have a massage in your home?
Massage therapy can be a beneficial addition to conventional medical treatments or in conjunction to chiropractic or physiotherapy. However, not everyone has the ability to get to a clinic due to physical or time limitations.
Whether you are in a wheelchair, or using aids to walk such as a cane, or have time restrictions from activities, you can still receive a massage. Our therapist has experience working with clients as little as infants to athletes to someone with cerebral palsy to seniors in retirement homes.
They bring a massage table, or chair, in your home or office and set up in an area with a bit of privacy. They have lotion/oil and linens, but you provide the music and two pillows. Once they've gone over your confidential health history they can modify the treatment to suit your specific needs.
How do I get started?
The process begins by contacting us to set up your appointment! Once booked, before the start of your massage, you will fill out a confidential health history form. From there, the therapist assesses the areas to be worked on and then together, you and your therapist will develop a treatment plan to best suit your needs.
